We are thrilled to receive the support of Commonwealth Bank through their CommBank Staff Foundation Community Grants.

When we say we are constantly impressed by the commitment of our community, we mean it.

Nominated by one of our former volunteers, Cassie – who is now a Relationship Manager at CommBank – the CommBank Staff Foundation Community Grant will help us provide the first full year of our regular photography program at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Each year, this program provides around 240 families with precious memories and lasting connections from their time in hospital – a reminder of their strength and bravery.

“Our supporters continue to drive incredible impact for sick children and their families. From contributing to world-leading research projects to helping to provide moments of happiness in hospital, we are constantly impressed by their commitment to our cause.”

– Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Lyndsey Rice

Far from just a ‘nice to have’, the program gives autonomy to sick children and their families during what can often feel like a prolonged period of lack of control.

This occurs through the simple but powerful step of allowing patients and caregivers to choose if – and how – their special moments are captured.

In one instance, caregivers of a young patient initially declined the photography service when offered, however their child begged them (his parents) to participate.

The patient guided the interaction by posing, arranging props and eventually making his parents join him in some funny and silly photos.

The outcome was incredible with the patient’s father telling us, “this has made my day”.

Through supporting programs like regular photography, you too can be the difference that really matters to kids in hospital. Head here to find out how.
