Ellen Barron Family Centre
Your role as an Ellen Barron Family Centre volunteer is to support the inpatient experience for newly admitted parents and their child. You will assist with a variety of things including orientating new families which includes a tour of the facility, patient interaction during parent information sessions and other assistance to support families.

Entertainment Volunteers
As an Entertainment volunteer you will make sure kids don’t feel lonely or bored by playing games, puzzles and offering a range of entertainment and craft activities. You will be supporting patients and their families in our Kidzone play space, bedside play to inpatients and offering entrainment and distraction in outpatient waiting areas.

Operating Theatre Support – Holding Bay
As an Operating Theatre Holding Bay volunteer you will help ease the anxiety of a child’s surgical journey by working closely with medical staff to provide information and emotional support to caregivers.

Operating Theatre Support - Recovery
As an Operating Theatre Recovery volunteer, you will work closely with staff to support the post-anaesthetic care of kids by providing comfort, regulating caregiver visits and being available to support the Recovery staff.

Scholastic Book Bunker
As a Scholastic Book Bunker volunteer your love of books will shine as you sit by the bedside to read a child’s favourite story, or have the child read to you! Our Scholastic Book Bunker volunteers also offer a mobile loan service with a selection of more than 5,000 books for patients to choose from.

Steggles Cuddle Carer
As a specially trained Cuddle Carer you will provide comfort to our youngest of patients with a reassuring and soothing cuddle. Our Cuddle Carers care for patients and siblings throughout all areas of the hospital to offer support to families whose worlds have been turned upside down. If you would like to join our Steggles Cuddle Carer role you need have volunteered in another of our amazing roles for a minimum of six months so apply now for one of our other roles to get your name on our expressions of interest list for this invaluable role!

Ward Orientation
Your role as a Ward Orientation volunteer is to provide caregivers with knowledge and support for their hospital stay. It can be overwhelming as a caregiver of an inpatient dealing with the stress of a sick and injured child. As a Ward Orientation volunteer you will be able to ease the stress by informing caregivers of services and support networks available to make their stay as supported as possible. If you would like to join our Ward Orientation role you need have volunteered in another of our amazing roles for a minimum of six months so apply now for one of our other roles to get your name on our expressions of interest list for this invaluable role!

Woolworths Wayfinder
As a Woolworths Wayfinder you will help make navigating the Queensland Children’s Hospital a breeze. Not only will you help families make their appointments on time, but your joy at meeting people from all walks of life will also support Queensland Children’s Hospital visitors by sharing information on resources that are available outside of the building – places to grab a bite to eat, find pharmacies, grocery stores – whatever families need for their time in the hospital.
