Thousands of forgotten items are heading to auction, and every dollar raised will help Children’s Hospital Foundation support sick and injured kids across Queensland and northern NSW.

Brisbane Airport’s annual Lost Property Auction is now live, with almost 700 lots up for grabs until Sunday, 8 November. This year, 100 per cent of proceeds will support the Foundation, with Lloyds Auctions generously donating its services.

A second chance for lost belongings

After a year in which around 25 million passengers travelled through Brisbane Airport, thousands of unclaimed items have been bundled into lots, from laptops, smartwatches and designer perfume to surfboards, bikes and a Starlink kit.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said giving lost property a second chance was a fitting way to support Queensland families when they need it most.

Meet Sparkly Brain

Among the highlights is Sparkly Brain, a striking sculpture by Brisbane artist Rachel Burke. Commissioned for the Foundation’s 10th birthday, the artwork celebrates a decade of world-leading neurological care and research at Queensland Children’s Hospital. It has been donated by the Foundation and will go under the hammer alongside the airport’s lost property.

Foundation CEO Lyndsey Rice thanked Brisbane Airport, Lloyds Auctions and everyone getting behind the auction.

“Every bid helps make a real difference for Queensland’s sickest kids,” Ms Rice said.

Funds raised will help the Foundation support life-changing research, cutting-edge equipment and vital programs that improve care and outcomes for children, no matter their illness or injury, and no matter where in Queensland they live.
