Greek dancing, music and entertainment – we’re getting ready for the inaugural Madd Giving Back Charity Gala Ball on Saturday 19 November.

Madd stands for ‘Making a Difference Daily’ and with their 10th birthday looming, we’re humbled to have the generous support of George Samios and the wider Madd community for their inaugural Madd Charity Gala Ball.

Transporting guests to a Night in Greece, the charity gala will help change the lives of kids like one-year-old Georgia, who was born with ‘half a heart’.

While Georgia was still in the womb, Larissa and Nathan were given news no parent should have to hear – ‘I think your baby has hypoplastic left heart syndrome’ – a syndrome which has led to the left side of her heart being critically underdeveloped.

At five days old, Georgia came to Queensland Children’s Hospital for the first of three open-heart surgeries. There was a chance she wouldn’t survive the operation, but Larissa and Nathan’s “little warrior” pulled through not just one, but two open-heart surgeries – spending a total of 169 days in hospital.

Thanks to Madd’s support, we can continue to fund life-saving research, critical new equipment and patient and family support services and help kids like Georgia and their families through some of their most challenging days.

Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Lyndsey Rice said: “Everything we do for sick and injured kids would not be possible without the generous support of partners like Madd – these partners are the reason we are able to help sick kids just be kids.”

The night will see the Brisbane Convention Centre transform into a traditional Santorini experience, with Hellenic Dancers and Australia’s most loved ‘Greek’ comic Vince Sorrenti – one lucky raffle ticket holder will even drive away in a new Hyundai Kona.
