The Children’s Hospital Foundation has handed the baton to the next generation – with our new Young Ambassador program set to inspire young Queenslanders from the Cape to the Tweed.
With a shared goal to make an impact, our dynamic group of remarkable young Queenslanders includes Gold Coast / Tweed Heads locals: Australian Olympian and X-Games gold medallist Chloe Covell, rising star Chaydon Jay, best known for his role as Young Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and acclaimed First Nations singer-songwriter Budjerah.
Chloe, Chaydon and Budjerah join Brisbane Lions player and Norm Smith medallist Will Ashcroft, Children’s Hospital Foundation volunteer Maxwell Shearer, aspiring actress Andie Rose and budding philanthropist Henry Majer.
Inspiring the next generation
Our young ambassadors will play a pivotal role in championing our mission, engaging with their communities and driving fundraising efforts to sick children across Queensland.
Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Lyndsey Rice described the new program as a significant milestone for the Foundation.
“This program allows us to connect with young people on a deeper level – through the voices of those who understand their world,” Ms Rice said.
“Our young ambassadors are taking time out of their busy schedules – world tours, gigs, schooling and training – to give back. Their commitment sets a powerful example for future generations about the importance of meaningful community engagement.
“We can’t wait to work alongside them to make a real difference in the lives of young people across Queensland,” she added.
A legacy for rising stars
Many of our young ambassadors have clocked up impressive achievements and accolades and are testament of our younger generation’s ability to overcome challenges to achieve their dreams.
Chloe Covell is a 14-year-old street skateboarder, known for being the youngest athlete to win two X-Games medals. She was also the youngest member of the Australian team at the Paris 2024 Olympics and has become a symbol of just how far determination can take you.
Chloe is honoured to be part of the inaugural Young Ambassador program.
“I’m excited to work with the Foundation to give back to sick kids across Queensland,” Covell said.
“I hope to inspire other young people to step up, make an impact and look beyond themselves to support their communities.”
