The impact we make for sick kids starts with the dedicated people behind the scenes. In our Meet the Difference Makers series, we’re sharing stories of the passionate team working to bring hope, care and support to sick children and their families.
Meet Ishtar Lockwood, our Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager.
Every day, Ish plays a crucial role in securing funding that brings life changing programs to sick children and their families. She oversees the full lifecycle of grants from philanthropic trusts and foundations – researching opportunities, preparing applications and ensuring funding is managed effectively to create the greatest impact.
Her work helps turn generosity into real-world outcomes, funding vital hospital programs, cutting-edge research and essential family support services.
Recently, Ish embarked on a new chapter – returning to work after maternity leave. With both a new role and a new industry to navigate, flexibility was key to making the transition a success.
“Having a part-time, hybrid role has made all the difference. It’s given me balance to reach my potential at work while also being a present parent,” shared Ish.
Despite stepping into a fresh role, Ish has felt right at home at the Foundation.
“From day one, I’ve been incredibly supported by the team and my manager, encouraged to bring my ideas to the table and leverage my experience,” added Ish.
At Children’s Hospital Foundation, we know that when we support our people, we strengthen the impact we make for sick kids.
By fostering a workplace that values flexibility, collaboration and support, we empower our team to bring their skills, ideas and passion to the office each and every day – improving the lives of sick and injured children across Queensland and northern New South Wales.
