Australia’s “Queen of Tinsel” Rachel Burke has added her signature sparkle to the Queensland Children’s Hospital’s 10th birthday celebrations with a spectacular and one-of-a-kind art installation.

Unveiled today at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Rachel’s glittering masterpiece kicks off the Tenabrations – 10 days of fun-filled celebrations leading up to the hospital’s milestone birthday on 29 November.

More than just a dazzling centrepiece – it’s a heartfelt tribute to the creativity, resilience and brilliance of the children the hospital supports every day.

A celebration of creativity and care

Known for her bold and imaginative flair, Rachel has created a larger-than-life sparkly brain installation to celebrate the hospital and Foundation’s world-class achievements in neurological care and research over the past decade.

“As a parent, I know how important the hospital and the Foundation are. To bring a little joy through creativity and be a part of this milestone is an honour,” says Rachel.

Since 2014, Queensland Children’s Hospital’s neurosurgery team has conducted more than 1,831 procedures for conditions such as acquired brain injuries, brain cancer or aneurysms.

Over 550 children have been treated for low and high-grade brain tumours since Queensland Children’s Hospital first opened in 2014.

Our investment into brain cancer has seen less debilitating treatment options, new early detection methods and support and additional learning tools for brain cancer survivors on the other side of their treatment. Supporting families in the toughest of times.

In the lead up to the big day, Rachel will also host hands-on craft workshops for young patients and their families, offering a chance to connect and explore their creativity in a fun and meaningful way.

“There is nothing more special than seeing kids light up when they get to create something magical. It’s about celebrating their imagination and resilience,” adds Rachel.

Celebrating 10 years of making a difference

Since opening in November 2014, the Queensland Children’s Hospital has been a beacon of hope for critically sick and injured kids across Queensland, from the Cape to the Tweed.

Supported by the Children’s Hospital Foundation, the hospital provides world-class medical care to more than 278,000 outpatients and 45,000 inpatients every year.

This milestone celebration is a moment to reflect on the hospital’s achievements and highlight the vital programs and world-class care made possible through the support of people like you.

Join the fun

The Tenabrations are packed with daily activities, entertainment and moments of joy for young patients and families in hospital.

Rachel’s sparkly brain will remain on display in the Level 2 Foyer of Queensland Children’s Hospital throughout the celebrations, from Monday 18 November until the big birthday party on Friday 29 November.

The glittery installation serves as a shining reminder of the hospital’s achievements and the incredible resilience of children it supports.
