This May, two community-favourite events, the Moreton Bay Running Festival and the Moreton Bay Triathlon will be joining forces to form a weekend sporting blitz as the Moreton Bay Multisport Festival for the first time ever.

Held at Pelican Park on the beautiful Moreton Bay foreshore, the event has partnered with local charity, Children’s Hospital Foundation, to help raise vital funds for sick and injured kids right across the state.

The running festival will kick off at twilight on Saturday 14th May, boasting cool evening temperatures and a variety of distances for all ages and abilities.

The triathlon aspect of the event will be held on 15th May, featuring a swim in the protected bay, followed by a ride over the Ted Smout Bridge and a flat foreshore run.

Having combined the two events, the festival now makes for the perfect opportunity for the whole family to get involved in a fun and active weekend out, with the added benefit of raising funds for a fantastic cause.

Funds raised through participants efforts will go directly to supporting ground-breaking research into some of the most insidious paediatric diseases, help purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment and provide patient and family support services at Queensland Children’s Hospital and state-wide.

Children’s Hospital Foundation Acting CEO, Olivia Jary, has encourage the Moreton Bay community to get behind sick kids this May.

“We are absolutely delighted that Moreton Bay Multisport Festival have decided to partner with us this year to raise funds for sick and injured Queensland kids,” Ms Jary said.

“Everything we do for kids and young people is only possible through the generosity and dedication of our supporters, and it’s a true privilege that participants in this year’s events will be raising awareness for Children’s Hospital Foundation.”

“I encourage Moreton Bay residents and the wider Queensland community to get behind our kids, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve when we all come together.”

Festival Director, Brendon Downey, said he was absolutely thrilled to be encompassing the two events together in a family friendly format.

“I have no doubt that the weekend of festivities will be cemented on the Brisbane event calendar as one of the key family and fitness events to participate in for years to come,” Mr Downey said.

“We are keeping our Classic distance of 2000m/ 60km/ 15km – longer than Olympic distance! – which is a great draw card for our return participants looking to really challenge themselves”.

“We’ve also opened up a bunch of entry level distances, as well as kid-friendly events, so this is truly a time when the whole family can come together, enjoy a fantastic day out and put their weight behind a great and local cause.”

Moreton Bay Multisport Festival is thanks to Moreton Bay Regional Council, Tourism Events Queensland, Vorgee, Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Vuly.

Early Bird entries are now open and will close on 28 March.
