Families can spend more time comforting and caring for their child at the bedside, thanks to your generous support.

Time is precious for families in hospital – every minute with their sick or injured child counts. Research shows presence at the bedside can be a source of comfort for both the child and caregiver during what is often an uncertain and challenging journey.

This is where our free frozen meal program at the Queensland Children’s Hospital helps families stay close to and focused on their sick child.

With support from FareShare, we provide over 8,000 free frozen and nutritious meals to families at Queensland Children’s Hospital each year.

Made from rescued, donated and homegrown food, these home-cooked and healthy meals are stocked in all of the inpatient family lounges.

Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Lyndsey Rice said: “When your child is sick or injured, your entire worldview shifts – your own health and wellbeing often takes a back seat.”

“Through providing free frozen meals, we can play a small but crucial role in helping families to focus on the important things, like their child’s treatment and recovery,” she added.

Because of you, we can continue to help families in hospital through the toughest of times. We can continue to provide free frozen meals, just like we have for the past nine years.
