Christmas may be all wrapped up, but we are still celebrating the wonderful support we received from our community and partners.

Once again 2021 was not without its challenges but thanks to your ongoing assistance we were able to expand your impact and support more children than ever before.

Our Christmas Toy Drive was a huge success, with over 350 businesses, groups, and individuals donating toys directly, and over 270 toys donated virtually via our online gifting catalogue.

Support from the community reached us from further afield than ever before thanks to IKEA, 4KQ Christmas lights, South Bank Parklands and Roma Street Parklands Enchanted Garden all contributing toys and donations towards our Christmas Appeal.

Being in hospital is always hard but being in hospital at Christmas is extra tough! But thanks to your support and with some careful planning, we were able to work some Christmas magic for patients and families in Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The foyer was decked with festive cheer and kids were treated to 12 days of exciting Christmas craft, with 3,900 packs given to children. Over 200 Christmas Eve boxes of goodies were delivered and with the support of Compare the Market, Santa met, and had photos with over 300 children in four days of Christmas family photos. On Christmas Day 210 presents were delivered to patients and siblings, and over 180 activity packs were delivered on New Year’s Eve.

We were delighted to hear from families that all the Christmas festivities gave the kids a well-deserved break away from the stress of treatment, and provided a special memory cherished by parents and loved ones.

Thanks to you, we were able to extend the Christmas spirit to more children and young people than ever before by gifting over 700 presents to patients accessing Children and Youth Mental Health Services at 10 community clinics across Brisbane.

To put the star on top of the tree this Christmas, thanks to your incredible donations our Christmas Appeal raised over $300,000 to help fund new research to find better treatments, faster diagnoses, and, ultimately, cures for sick kids with leukaemia and brain cancer.

We couldn’t have done any of this alone and as well as thanking our supporters, we have to say a huge thank you to the 221 Foundation volunteers and the 42 corporate volunteers who together gave over 2000 hours of their time to help us.

Thank you all for giving sick kids and their families the greatest gift this Christmas.
