Time is precious for families in hospital – every minute with their sick or injured child counts. That is why we are proud to announce our new partnership with FareShare.

Our partnership with FareShare will continue the legacy of the Scarlett May Foundation, providing nutritious meals to families in hospital.

As part of this service, over 8,000 meals will be delivered each year to families of sick kids at Queensland Children’s Hospital, including the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, oncology, and neurology wards, amongst others.

Children’s Hospital Foundation Director of Patient and Family Support, Nick Van Dyke is thrilled to bring FareShare into the fold of the Foundation’s patient and family support services.

“Families don’t always have the time, or feel comfortable, to leave their child’s bedside to eat a nutritious meal for themselves,” he said.

“Through partnering with FareShare to provide free and accessible frozen meals, we can play a small role in helping families focus on the important things – like their child’s treatment and recovery.”

FareShare operates Australia’s largest non-profit kitchens in Brisbane and Melbourne, transforming rescued, donated, and homegrown food into delicious and healthy meals for Australians facing hardships.

“We believe that everyone deserves a nutritious meal – a free, home-style meal cooked by FareShare chefs and volunteers shows that somebody cares,” said FareShare’s Madison Buik.
