Liam Talbot fuelling change for sick kids
Two-time Australian GT Champion and Children’s Hospital Foundation Ambassador, Liam Talbot takes Philanthropy up a gear, announcing a monumental $500,000 donation to the Foundation on behalf of himself and his late father, Ken Talbot, whilst treating some of Queensland Children’s Hospital’s sick kids and their families to the ultimate trackside experience.
Upon arrival at Champions Way, Willowbank, young patients and their families were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the garage by Liam and his crew – inspiring a new group of young racers and adrenaline seekers along the way!
Shifting gears, attendees were then given a front row seat to watch Liam in all his glory, burning oil and wowing the group with his practice laps in his signature Aston Martin – giving young speedsters a taste of the fast lane and some much-needed reprieve from being in hospital.
Following all the action, patients and their families then caught up with Liam for a one-on-one meet and greet, Q&A session (the kids certainly kept him on his toes) and autograph signing before checking out his sweet ride – every moment sparked smiles, wonder, and a renewed sense of joy.
Parents who joined the excursion said the experience was more than just a fun day out – it was a powerful reminder of what childhood should feel like: adventurous, inspiring, and full of possibility.
Big thank you to Liam and Shannon’s for making this experience possible. It’s through these shared moments of joy that we help kids feel like kids again, no matter what challenges they face.
Driven by heart, not just horsepower
Talbot is raising funds and awareness to support the Foundation’s work, fuelling vital initiatives like bedside play, brain tumour research, emergency care kits, music therapy, and cuddle care for Queensland’s sickest and most critically injured children, from the Cape to the Tweed.
“This additional donation comes from my family’s heart, reflecting my drive to make sure every child has every chance to thrive,” Talbot said.
“Hosting and speaking with the kids and families who attended the special trackside experience today, it was clear just how much these small moments of joy and distraction mean during what is an overwhelming and often isolating time for families.”
“I’m honored to play a part in the Foundations story and to bolster their mission: because no child should face their healthcare journey alone.”
Going full throttle on community impact, one lap at a time
As the proud philanthropic partner of Children’s Health Queensland and Queensland Children’s Hospital, the Foundation helps make a difference for every kid, across all conditions, from the Cape to the Tweed and the Northern Territory, with one in three patients coming from outside Greater Brisbane.
Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO Lyndsey Rice commended Talbot’s deep commitment to the cause, acknowledging its ability to propel widespread advancements.
“Liam Talbot has given so much, his time, his heart, and an extraordinary $500,000 donation to help the Foundation continue to deliver catalytic funding that supports the needs of Children’s Health Queensland, and sick kids and their families from across the State.
“The joy he’s brought through this specially hosted Trackside Experience today is unforgettable”.
“We urge everyone to get onboard with Liam’s fundraising campaign this year and donate. With over 371,000 children accessing both in and outpatient care in 2024 alone, the need for donations is ever-present. Every act of generosity helps us be there with comfort, care and hope – helping to make the hospital feel more like home,” concluded Ms Rice.
