“Giving back has always been important to us, as we were raised by parents who encouraged generosity and to support others whenever possible.”
Last year, one conversation with a friend led Muscle Mat co-founders and siblings, Hunter and Madeleine, to find the charity they had been looking for – one that aligned with their interests, family-driven values and brand ethos.
This is their Donor Diary – our new series that celebrates the incredible people who support Children’s Hospital Foundation, through their own words and experiences.
Support that’s close to home
As Muscle Mat grew, Hunter and I became more intentional about our philanthropy, and we had been looking for a charity that aligned with both our brand and our personal values.
For me, being in my final year of studying to become a doctor and having completed paediatric placements in hospital, I have an understanding of the challenges faced by sick children and their families. I really wanted to support a charity that supports kids through their medical journeys after seeing the difference first-hand that certain initiatives can make by improving the hospital experience for them.
Supporting an organisation that has a real impact on children and families was important to us, which led us to Children’s Hospital Foundation and the vital work they do for children and their families.
As a brand, many of our customers are parents, and we have heard many stories about how our products have supported their children, particularly those with special or medical needs. We have even had multiple customers use our toppers in hospital beds.
This got us thinking about what more of an impact we could have.
Generosity and care as a lifestyle
Children’s Hospital Foundation was a natural fit for us, as its focus on children’s health and family-centred care strongly reflects our personal values and the purpose behind our brand.
We are supportive of all the areas of Children’s Hospital Foundation and the vital work they do, and particularly honoured to be able to help fund the Foundation’s research aspect, which has such an important and meaningful impact.
We have always contributed to charities where we could. Giving back has always been important to us, as we were raised by parents who encouraged generosity and to support others whenever possible. To us, generosity means giving freely and with intention, with no expectation of anything in return. It means caring about the needs of others and doing what you can to support them to positively impact their lives.
A meaningful pursuit
Knowing that our support helps Queensland children and their families feels meaningful and motivates us to continue to give back. It gives purpose to what we do and encourages us to continue supporting this deserving cause.
It’s humbling to know that our contributions help children and their families navigate childhood illnesses. We would tell anyone considering donating to the Children’s Hospital Foundation to do it – it’s such a worthy cause and you’re helping support an environment where kids just get to be kids.
Kindness that makes a difference
Hunter and Madeleine are proud to give back, exploring new ways to increase their charitable efforts, and are hosting their first fundraising campaign for Children’s Hospital Foundation.
From February 27 to March 1, for every Muscle Mat order placed across Australia, $10 will be donated to the Foundation in support of sick and injured children and their families.
Your ongoing kindness and support helps us create a future where gaps in funding grow smaller, not bigger, and world-class care is for all, not just for some. Every donation, no matter how big or small, is the difference every kid deserves.
Donate today to help the sickest kids get better sooner.
