As we look back on another Christmas at Children’s Hospital Foundation, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the many moments of joy and magic that filled the season – all thanks to you!
Every year, there are kids and families who spend Christmas in hospital, away from their homes and surrounded by uncertainty. For some, it may be their first, last or only Christmas together.
But thanks to you, Christmas was brighter, warmer and more hopeful for the over 4,000 families who spent their festive season at Queensland Children’s Hospital. This Christmas, you raised an incredible $185,000 to make their Christmas wishes come true.
Your impact in numbers
This Christmas, your support turned generosity into action, creating moments of joy and normality for families in hospital.
Because of you, we were able to:
- Create 204 hours of joy and play in our Kidzone playroom, supporting 1,115 children with moments of laughter and fun
- Provide 433 items of emergency clothing to families who arrived unexpectedly at the hospital, offering comfort during stressful and uncertain moments
- Help 181 families and 494 essential frontline workers capture priceless Christmas memories with a special photo with Santa
- Distribute 3,000 Christmas craft packs, keeping children entertained and distracted throughout their hospital stay.
Our Christmas Toy Drive also received an unprecedented response from Queenslanders near and far.
With your support, 568 sick children and their siblings woke up on Christmas morning with a gift from Santa. An additional 815 gifts were also delivered to Children’s Health Queensland community clinics, to ensure no child went without this Christmas.
What’s more, these donations will continue to bring comfort and joy all year long – marking birthdays, milestones and even making the toughest days in hospital just a little easier for young patients.
Support beyond Christmas
While another Christmas may have come and gone at Children’s Hospital Foundation, the need for support has not.
On any given day, the team at Queensland Children’s Hospital will treat more than 200 children in its emergency department, see about 1,000 children at outpatient appointments and care for more than 200 children as inpatients.
These children face long and difficult stays – moments of fear and uncertainty.
Your ongoing support helps us provide the wrap-around programs and services to make hospital a place that allows kids to act, think and feel like kids. Your continued generosity makes it possible to respond to families immediately, to help them get better sooner.
