Nurses play a crucial role in the lives of sick children and their families – these are the people caring, supporting and treating sick and injured kids every hour of every day.

To mark International Nurses Day, we were honoured to launch the Capturing Care Photography Exhibition in partnership with Children’s Health Queensland Arts in Health program at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

This was a concept that came to life, after a conversation with a nurse unit manager at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

She mentioned that in all the years she’s been nursing, she did not have a single photo of her doing her job. This sparked an idea.

With International Nurses Day fast approaching, we partnered with Children’s Health Queensland and photographer, Jess Stephens, to develop a photography exhibition that represents the intense, diverse and challenging work performed by nurses.

The Capturing Care Photography Exhibition features 30 candid and realistic moments of nurses, and will be open to patients, families and visitors of Queensland Children’s Hospital at the Level 2 Community Gallery until October.

It is an extension of our monthly photography service at Queensland Children’s Hospital – a service made possible through your generous support.

The regular program helps capture photos of long-stay and frequent flyer patients and their families at the bedside, providing patients and families with lasting memories of their time in hospital.
