We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Madd Ball raised an incredible $325,522 for sick kids in
Queensland.

The bi-annual event is hosted by Children’s Hospital Foundation partner, Madd Loans, and raises vital funds to support the Foundations research, equipment and on-the-ground support at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Donations and celebrations

The event took place on Saturday, 25 October, welcoming sponsors, clients, the wider Madd community and Children’s Hospital Foundation representatives to ‘A Night in Positano’.

Featuring bids, pledges, live and silent auctions, raffles and guest speakers, The Madd Ball proved to be a success in both fundraising and entertainment.

Australian singer and international superstar, Conrad Sewell, gave a powerful performance, and guests were also treated to dazzling acrobatics and breathtaking fire performances.

The evenings silent and live auctions gave guests plenty of opportunities to raise funds for sick kids, with signed Brisbane Broncos and Brisbane Lions jerseys, a V8 car driving experience, a Noosa holiday house and a trip to Bali among the items to be won on the night.

Brisbane Broncos Coach Michael Maguire was also in attendance – throwing in a special visit to the sheds after a game next year for the lucky winner.

Among the night’s speakers was Rebecca Reed, a parent to one of the patients at Queensland Children’s Hospital and beneficiary of the support and services provided by Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Mrs Reed relayed her son Lachlan’s journey to a captivated audience, providing first-hand insight and experience into the work of the Foundation and how the night’s fundraising can make a difference.

Her family’s story was both inspiring and moving, creating an emotional atmosphere that reminded guests of the real impact their support creates.

“Children’s Hospital Foundation has become our second family,” said Mrs Reed. “They mean the world to us and are always there – never letting us feel alone.”

Madd was also inducted into the Foundation’s Hall of Fame as a token of appreciation for all the hard work and fundraising the organisation has provided over the years.

“The Madd Ball began with one simple goal,” said Madd Loans Founder, George Samios, “to bring people together through gratitude and giving. Since that first [Madd Ball] event, it has become something truly meaningful.”

A long-lasting partnership

Since 2002, Madd Loans has been an unwavering supporter of Children’s Hospital Foundation, providing life-changing donations for sick kids and their families.

In 2022, after 20 years of working together, Samios decided to take their partnership one step further by creating The Madd Ball.

Previous Madd Ball events raised over $321,000 in support of sick and injured kids across Queensland, with last Saturday’s fundraising taking those efforts to new heights with a total over $640,000.

Children’s Hospital Foundation CEO, Lyndsey Rice, shared the Foundation’s pride and appreciation for all the efforts Madd has provided over the years.

“This partnership provides a platform to engage Madd’s stakeholders around a meaningful cause – to help kids with all illnesses, injuries and conditions,” said Ms Rice. “We are so incredibly thankful for your support.”

Madd also run financial literacy workshops in workplaces and schools, and host seminars that give people the knowledge and confidence to make smarter decisions about money.

Their commitment to giving back includes major community sponsorships such as the Paniyiri Festival, donations to support families in need and funding bursaries for students, all of which reflect their belief that success is measured by their positive impact.

Start making a difference daily

The Madd Ball is about more than just fundraising.

“It is about being present, connecting with each other and taking time to reflect on the strength of those doing it tough,” said Mr Samios.

“Our team remains committed to Making a Difference Daily. We believe that small, consistent actions can create a ripple effect that inspires others and leads to real change.”
